Review: His Heart's Revenge by Jenny Holiday

It's always amazing when Jenny Holiday releases another novel, and I couldn't have been more excited to hear that there would be another installment in her amazing 49th Floor series! I'm excited to share with you today, HIS HEART'S REVENGE, Jenny's first foray into m/m romance! I've got all of the details, including a special sneak peek excerpt, so read on and enjoy!

His Heart’s Revenge - Jenny Holiday - Entangled Publishing - I

About HIS HEART’S REVENGE:

Twenty years ago, I was too smart and too poor to be cool. Now I’m laughing my way to the bank—the bank I’m CEO of. Nothing can touch me. Except maybe him. We met at summer camp. We made out under the stars. Then he stabbed me in the back. They say revenge is a dish best served cold. But I’m gonna go with hot. Alexander Evangelista is a millionaire with all the trappings: houses all over the world and hot guys lined up whenever he’s in need of some no-strings-attached company. He's on his way to world domination. A CEO in his own right, Cary Bell is competing for a major client with his boyhood crush. He’s never forgiven himself for betraying Alex. But with his professional reputation on the line, he’s going to have to find his inner cutthroat if he wants his new company to succeed. Alex isn’t about to let his nemesis steal a client out from under him. It’s time to break Cary’s company—and his heart.
***

My Review:

It was a pleasant and fun read, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. A beautiful M/M love story.

Cary and Alex met during a camp as teenagers and Alex was deeply hurt and humiliated by Cary. He was already openly gay while Cary was still in crisis with his identity. Alex has sworn revenge and now is succeeding, he is destroying Cary's activities. But when they meet again they discover that the attraction between them is still very strong.

The two main characters are really great. The life of Cary was much simpler than that of Alex: he comes from a wealthy family while his friend grew up with a single mother and has earned with great difficulty all he has. Alex is a tough businessman who has never passed the severe pain and disappointment at the refusal of Cary. But his apology allow them to begin a new journey together.

It 's a well-written story, with a lot of passion and a strong chemistry between the two protagonists. Perfect for lovers of romance.

His Heart's Revenge (2) #DONE #5

Excerpt from HIS HEART'S REVENGE:

Alexander waited a beat before saying, “Your place.” He meant it about not wanting people in his space. He wasn’t making that mistake again, at least not this soon after David. “Follow me.” And eff him if Alexander didn’t then do exactly what Cary told him, following him around to the back of the pool. Cary tried the back gate, but it was locked. The only way out was going to be through the house, and Cary apparently didn’t like that option because he rattled the lock in frustration. Alexander didn’t either. The party was stifling, and they were likely to get pulled into conversations. They might have to see Liu, which would be the human equivalent of a hundred cold showers, so surely would it remind them why this was a terrible idea. Alexander moved next to Cary to look at the gate, which was secured shut with a flimsy, rusty padlock. Cary rattled it again. “I guess we’ll have to go through—” No. If they went back through the house, Alexander wouldn’t be able to continue suspending his disbelief enough to actually go through with this. So he pushed Cary aside, retracted his leg and kicked—a hard, swift blow that was rewarded with the breaking of the lock. Cary inhaled sharply and glanced at Alexander. Alexander merely opened the gate and gestured to Cary to precede him. They covered the large estate quickly and in silence, bypassing the valet stand outside the front door and continuing to the open field where the guests’ cars were parked. They passed Cary’s BMW first. He paused with his hand on the door and turned to look at Alexander. The heat was back in his eyes, and he was smiling a little proto-smile, like he had a secret. Alexander almost groaned right then and there as a rogue thought exploded across his consciousness. That mouth will be your undoing. Again. “Three-fifty Kendall Avenue, main floor,” Cary said, still smiling, giving no sign that he felt any of the turmoil that was roiling around in Alexander’s chest. Alexander nodded. It was a long drive back to the city from the Lius’ bucolic country spread. A long time to think, to come to his senses and realize why this was the worst plan in the world. He needed to do something to prevent that from happening. So he grabbed Cary’s wrist and pulled him against his chest. “Will you do something for me?” He was surprised at how raspy his voice was. He shouldn’t have been—it merely sounded like he felt, which was on the verge of losing control. Cary nodded, and his cheeks flushed. Good. Finally an outward sign that Alexander had gotten to him. “Turn off your goddamned music for the drive home.” Cary must not have appreciated the directive, because he pulled back against Alexander’s grip. “Why the hell do you care what I listen to in the car by myself?” “Because I want you to concentrate—no distractions. I want you to spend the whole drive thinking about what I’m going to do to you. I want you to be ready for me.” Cary raised his eyebrows, but he stopped trying to free his wrist from Alexander’s grasp. “And what are you going to do to me?” “Everything.”

About Jenny Holiday:

Jenny Holiday started writing at age nine when her fourth grade teacher gave her a notebook and told her to start writing stories. That first batch featured mass murderers on the loose, alien invasions, and hauntings. From then on, she was always writing, often in her diary, where she liked to decorate declarations of existential angst with nail polish teardrops. Later, she channeled her penchant for scribbling into a more useful format, picking up a PhD in geography and then working in PR. Eventually, she figured out that happy endings were more fun than alien invasions. You can follow her on twitter at @jennyholi or visit her on the web at jennyholiday.com.

Review & Giveaway:His Montana Rescue by Vella Munn

His Montana Rescue
by Vella Munn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  contemporary romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Former firefighter Echo Rose may have recovered from the injuries that nearly ended her life but the emotional scars still linger. She now devotes herself to protecting wildlife and sheltering her heart until local contractor Rey Bowen reminds Echo that life can offer so much more.

Rey Bowen is not the only one at Lake Serene with secrets and a desire to reboot his seriously derailed life. Meeting Echo reminds him that life can sparkle with joy and laughter and passion, but can he show the cautious Echo how to love again even as he struggles to trust his own heart?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
It 's a short story but very sweet and romantic with a really lovely setting.
Echo has many wounds to heal both physical and emotional. She is afraid to suffer again and can not let her go, even in love. She was a firefighter and was seriously injured in a bad fire and has lost her boyfriend. Even Rey has lost everything because of an unscrupulous partner. They can try to rebuild their lives together.
Echo is a very sweet girl. She deals with great commitment of wildlife protection and thanks to her we can know cute animals and breathtaking landscapes.
Although it is the third book in the series it can be read as stand alone but I liked it so much that I can't wait to retrieve the other books.
It was a really enjoyable read, full of emotions, very credible and realistic, an interesting trip in the mountains of Montana.
Highly recommended.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

 “Ranger Echo Rose,” a rumbling voice said.

Taking it slow, she turned in the direction the words came from.

Rey Bowen was looking at her, or rather looking down at her. He wasn’t a giant of a man, just a shade over six feet, but that didn’t stop her from remembering she was at least seven inches shorter and only one hundred twenty pounds. For reasons she was careful not to examine too closely, she’d told herself the breadth of his chest and width of his shoulders were responsible for her unsettling reaction to him.

What was she thinking? Hadn’t she learned, painfully, to keep emotional distance between herself and men? She had, darn it. She’d never drop her guard.

Until she’d done in her ankle, she’d spent much of her time around physical people, most of them men. She still was around more men than women, but in recent months she'd mostly rubbed shoulders with people who spent their days behind desks.

Despite how she'd been forced to earn her living since last summer, she believed she still understood the physical male. When he was around women he was trying to impress, the breed carried himself as if he was a bull elk, strutting a bit, hard muscles pushing against too-tight T-shirts, and gazes giving out bedroom vibes.

Rey did none of those things. Instead, it was as if he’d built an emotional wall around himself. The reason was none of her business, darn it. She had enough to do dealing with her own life.

Review & Giveaway: The To-Do List by Sharon Struth

The To-Do List
by Sharon Struth

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: romantic comedy/suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Maggie Harris has her ultra-organized life well in hand, until she finds her neighbor and husband together, in her bed, and the tight hold she keeps on her world unravels, leaving her grasping for an escape. So how can she refuse when she’s handed the dream job of running her aunt’s bookstore and a chance for a fresh start? Even though the bookstore is in Brockport, Connecticut, her former hometown, and a place she’d vowed to leave behind forever.

When someone breaks into Maggie’s new business and leaves a threat on the wall, Detective Cooper Stanton is assigned the case. It’s been twenty years, but Coop hasn’t forgotten the way Maggie once charmed him at every turn—even with her controlling ways. This time, though, Coop refuses to let her seize the reins. What he doesn’t know is she plans to grab them anyway…and she’s got a secret she never shared.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
It 's a pleasant reading, engaging, full of suspense, secrets and twists. The love story is very intriguing and romantic.
Maggie is trying to start a new life in her hometown far from her former traitor husband. She  has inherited a library and is perfect for her new beginning. But unfortunately someone threatens her new business. The case is assigned to detective Cooper who was once in love with her.
I loved all the characters, especially Maggie and Coop, are very funny and a wonderful couple
The plot is well developed and woven with a perfect mix of mystery and romance, once you start it it's really hard to put it down, a page leads to another.
If you love romantic suspense it is the perfect read for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

The door chimes jingled, but she kept working. “Forget something, Jax?”

“Excuse me.”

The smooth, baritone voice stopped her mid-stroke. She’d never forgotten it. It belonged to someone she’d thought had moved far away from Brockport. Someone she’d hoped never to see again.

He cleared his throat. “Is this your dog?”

Maggie slowly turned around. Her mouth went dry at the sight of Cooper Stanton. A man she’d once believed she loved. A man who’d rejected her.

“What are you doing here?”

Roxy strained to get away while he held her collar.

“Nice to see you, too.” Coop’s lips wavered but didn’t reach a smile.

Cool and distant. Same as the last time they’d been together, a night filled with passion and anger.

She stepped down the ladder. Hadn’t he moved away from town with hopes of becoming a major league baseball star, a promise to put their small town on the map? She landed on the scattered newspapers, avoiding the splattered paint.

Roxy whimpered. Coop crouched at the dog’s side, keeping a firm grip on the chocolate colored mix while he whispered words of assurance. He stroked the dog’s torso, his hand no longer that of a teenage boy, but of a grown man, the fingers long and sturdy with strong veins.

“So?” Coop pried his adoring eyes off the canine and glanced at Maggie. “Is she yours or should I keep looking for the owner?”

At the sound of his voice, Roxy flipped back her head and dragged a saliva-coated tongue across his cheek. He grinned. Coop always did like promiscuous women.

“Yes. She’s mine.” Maggie brushed aside a few stray wisps of hair near her face, worked free from a plastic headband, escaping like the decades-old hurt now ripping at her heart.

Review & Giveaway: Fa-La-Llama-La by Stephanie Dagg

fa-la-llama-la

Stephanie Dagg

on Tour December 5-16 with

Fa-La-Llama-La

(Christmas romantic comedy) Release date: October 21, 2016 Self-published ASIN: B01MF7F813 165 pages

SYNOPSIS

It’s very nearly Christmas and, temporarily jobless and homeless, Noelle is back at home with her parents. However, a phone call from her cousin Joe, who runs a house-and-pet-sitting service, saves her from a festive season of Whist, boredom and overindulging. So Noelle is off to France to mind a dozen South American mammals. She arrives amidst a blizzard and quickly discovers that something is definitely wrong at the farm. The animals are there all right, but pretty much nothing else – no power, no furniture and, disastrously, no fee. Add to that a short-tempered intruder in the middle of the night, a premature delivery, long-lost relatives and participation in a living crèche, and this is shaping up to be a noel that Noelle will never forget. Fa-La-Llama-La is a feel-good, festive and fun romcom with a resourceful heroine, a hero who’s a bit of a handful and some right woolly charmers.

My Review

This book is perfect to read during Christmas time. It 's a sweet and romantic comedy with likeable llamas.
Noelle is not feeling Christmas spirit, she has lost her job, has left her boyfriend two months before the wedding and now lives with her parents and has lost the best grandmother in the world. Fortunately she receives a job offer in France, south of Paris. But when she comes there is a snowstorm and she finds an empty house with no light and no furniture, and with llamas in an enclosure. She tries somehow to spend the night there but is woken up by the new owner, Nick.  He has been cheated, the previous owners are gone taking away all the furniture and leaving the llamas. He's very angry. They will try to unite their efforts to solve their problems.
It was a really relaxing and enjoyable read with some really comic moments as when they have to persuade a llama to parade in the Church for the Christmas party. It was great to visit the French countryside covered with snow and discover some of its Christmas traditions.
Highly recommended

I now consider myself a European rather than ‘belonging’ to any particular country. The last ten years have been interesting, to put it mildly. Taking on seventy-five acres with three lakes, two hovels and one cathedral-sized barn, not to mention an ever increasing menagerie, makes for exciting times. The current array of animals includes alpacas, llamas, huarizos (alpaca-llama crossbreds, unintended in our case and all of them thanks to one very determined alpaca male), sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens and turkeys, not forgetting our pets of dogs, cats, zebra finches, budgies and Chinese quail. Before we came to France we had was a dog and two chickens, so it’s been a steep learning curve. I’m married to Chris and we have three bilingual TCKs (third culture kids) who are resilient and resourceful and generally wonderful. I’m a traditionally-published author of many children’s books, and and am now self-publishing too. Review & Giveaway: Seaside Whispers by Melissa Foster

SEASIDE SUMMERS
Voted Beck Valley Books Reviewers Favorite Mini Series from the Love in Bloom Series in 2014
Featuring a group of fun, sexy, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're funny, flawed, and will have you begging to enter their circle of friends.

SEASIDE WHISPERS
Having a mad crush on her boss's son, Matt Lacroux--an intriguing mix of proper gentleman and flirtatious bad boy--is probably not the smartest idea for single mother Mira Savage. Especially when the company, and her job, is already on shaky ground. But as a Princeton professor, Matt's life is hours away from Mira's home on Cape Cod, keeping him safely in the fantasy-only zone. And as a single mother to six-year-old Hagen, with a floundering company to save, fantasies are all she has time for.

With hopes of becoming dean off the table, and too many months of longing for a woman who lived too far away to pursue, Matt's publishing contract couldn't have come at a better time. He heads home to Cape Cod on a brief sabbatical, intent on starting his book, and finally getting his arms around sweet, seductive Mira.

A surprise encounter leads to white-hot passions and midnight confessions. The more time Matt and Mira spend together, the deeper their relationship grows, and the love and attention Matt showers on Hagen is more than she has ever dreamed of. But Matt's sabbatical is only temporary, and Mira's not saving his father's company so she can leave it behind. Will their whispers of love be enough for one of them to change their life forever?

SEASIDE WHISPERS is part of the SEASIDE SUMMERS series, and part of the "Love in Bloom" family. Each book may be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of the series.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My Review
It 's a very sweet and romantic story that warms the heart. The two main characters are adorable and perfect together.
Mira is a single mother of a beautiful child, Hagen. Her father doesn't want them but fortunately they have her brothers and Matt's father that she works for and supports her. She's in love with Matt, but she never thought that he reciprocated. Matt instead loves her very much and wants her and her son are happy. But he must to make a delicate decision.
Matt is a great guy, sexy, generous, loyal, intelligent, a person who provides stability and security. Mira is a very sweet and present mum. I like very much that they have involved the child in their history. Hagen is a nerd who loves to read, impossible not to love him.
It was a truly enjoyable and engaging reading, I could not put it down. There are very funny moments, some very sweet and almost touching. It's perfect to read at any time of day and year.
I recommend it to all lovers of romance and Melissa Foster.

My Review

It was a fun and easy read, very addictive, once you start it's really hard to put it down.
Nora tries to solve a complicated case of a missing person with the help of her cat, Nick cat. She obviously will be in danger. She also continues her pursuit of Nick's owner, mysteriously disappeared.
I love Nick, is a chubby black and white cat very nice and I am happy that it is a protagonist of this story and not just a secondary character.
This story is really well written, with many twists, false identities, secret codes, international espionage.
Although it is the third book in the series you can be read as a standalone and I can't wait to read the next adventure of Nick and Nora.
Highly recommended for lovers of cozy mystery and cats.

About the Author…..

While Toni Lotempio does not commit – or solve – murders in real life, she has no trouble doing it on paper. Her lifelong love of mysteries began early on when she was introduced to her first Nancy Drew mystery at age 10 – The Secret in the Old Attic. She (and ROCCO, albeit he’s uncredited) pen the Nick and Nora mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime – and in Spring 2017, the new CAT RESCUE mysteries from Crooked Lane! She, Rocco and company make their home in Clifton, New Jersey, just twenty minutes from the Big Apple – New York. Catch up with them at www.tclotempio.com and www.catsbooksmorecats.blogspot.com
