Synopsis

The author of Bun for Your Life returns to Destiny, New York, where bakery owners and amateur sleuths Molly Tyler and Olivia Williams never crumble under pressure…
While the rest of Destiny is focused on the arrival of an upper crust perfume mogul, Molly is more concerned about what’s on the front page of the newspaper: her mother. Library director Anne Tyler was photographed at the most romantic restaurant in town having a cozy dinner with library advisory board member Philip Baldelli. But there’s more for Molly to worry about after Philip is found dead a few days later.
When Detective Sean Corsino zeroes in on Anne as a person of interest in the case, it turns down the heat on his budding romance with Molly. But after he’s injured during the course of his investigation, Molly and Olivia must step in to sift through the clues and clear Anne’s name.

My Review

This is a mystery full of twists and turns with great female characters, a beautiful community of women willing to help and support each other.
Molly and her best friend Olivia own  Bread and Batter but are also two amateur detectives. The whole city is excited for the visit of Serafina Alessi, owner of the most famous companies that produce fragrances. Molly instead is concerned about seeing a picture of gossip regarding her mother: Anne has a dinner at a romantic restaurant with a man who isn't her husband. He is the president of the Library Advisory Board and the fiancé of Jil, her mother's colleague. Things get complicated when he is found dead in his house by Serafina Alessi, his great-niece. Detective Sean Corsino, Molly's boyfriend, seems suspect Molly's mother, but doesn't want to involve her in his investigations. When a car accident prevents him from continuing the investigation, Molly and Olivia will replace him and will end again in danger.
I love this small town in New York, is so cute and friendly, with amazing shops and warm people.
Molly was a great main character. She had ingenuity, spunk, spirit and was kind and intelligent. I hated Serfina, was really arrogant, irritating, superb. The love story between Sean and Molly was very sweet and tormented. They are very different: she is a vegetarian, he loves meat, have different political ideas but they manage to love respecting the other's ideas.
This is the second book in this series although I haven't read the first book, it in no way disrupted my enjoyment of this book.
It's a well written mystery, with vivid descriptions, charming characters and engaging storyline. There is humor and a perfect blend of romance, mystery and action.
if you like romantic mystery books Raisin the Dead is one to add to your list.
