Incipit

Sdraiata a letto, guardo Luther spogliarsi. Gliel'ho già visto fare moltissime volte, eppure riesce sempre ad ipnotizzarmi. Comincia con lo sfilarsi la maglietta, candida contro la sua pelle abbronzata, scompigliandosi ancor di più i capelli scuri già arruffati.

Trama

Alice è una giovane aspirante editor della Paragon, una casa editrice londinese ed è in un periodo particolarmente duro: è tormentata dal suo capo Olivia, sul lavoro non riesce ad emergere ed è stata appena lasciata tramite sms dal suo neo fidanzato. Ma le cose stanno per cambiare: Olivia sta male e deve operarsi d'urgenza così Alice deve andare al posto suo a Taormina per obbligare un attore a scrivere la sua biografia. L'attore è Luther Carson, di cui la ragazza è una grande fan. L'impresa si presenterà molto ardua: Luther è troppo impegnato a divertirsi per dedicarsi alla sua biografia ed è anche ostacolata dal suo scostante agente Simon., il quale crede che questa storia avrà delle ripercussioni negative sulla carriera del suo cliente.

Recensione

Alice è una ragazza normale, molto semplice che improvvisamente si trova a convivere in una splendida villa sul mare con piscina con famosi attori, a fare gite con lo yacht e a frequentare locali esclusivi...... Inoltre ha realizzato il suo sogno: uscire con Luther Carson, il suo attore preferito..... da perdere la testa.... Come le succede poco dopo il suo arrivo anche perchè Luther è l'unico che la accoglie con amicizia. Simon, l'agente di Luther, è molto antipatico e scostante e cerca di ostacolarla in tutti i modi, Annabel, un' attrice ospite della villa, è snob e odiosa e tenta di farla sentire inferiore e inadeguata. Ma Alice è una ragazza dolce e con i piedi ben piantati in terra e alla fine si riprenderà dallo sbandamento iniziale e farà le scelte giuste.

Il romanzo offre un interessante spaccato del mondo dell'editoria e delle celebrità ed è molto bella la località, una delle città di mare più belle d'Italia, Taormina: è divertente scoprire come viene vista la città con gli occhi di una irlandese (p.s. si può ordinare un cappuccino anche se non è ora di pranzo).
E' un romanzo leggero, piacevole, estivo, coinvolgente e divertente. Lo stile è semplice e scorrevole, si legge in poche ore ideale come lettura da spiaggia.

Alice is a normal girl, who suddenly is very easy to live in a beautiful seaside villa with swimming pool with famous actors, to make trips with the yacht and attend exclusive clubs ...... She also realized her dream: going out with Luther Carson, her favorite actor ..... to lose one's head .... as it happens shortly after her arrival. Luther is the only one that welcomes friendship. Simon, the agent of Luther, is very unpleasant and unhelpful and tries to hinder in any way, Annabel, an actress guest of the villa, is snobbish and hateful and try to make her feel inferior and inadequate. But Alice is a sweet girl and with feet firmly planted on the ground and eventually will recover from the initial confusion and make the right choices.

The novel offers an interesting insight into the world of publishing and celebrity and the location is very nice, one of the most beautiful seaside towns of Italy, Taormina: it's fun to discover the city as seen through the eyes of an Irishman (ps you can order a cappuccino even if it is lunchtime). 
It 's a novel light, pleasant, summer, addictive and fun. The style is simple and smooth, it said in a few hours and is an ideal beach reading.
