by Brett Matthew Williams

BLURB:

Meet Rolland Wright - a seventeen year old orphan living out of his car in rural Woodland Hills, California. Aside from grappling with the fact of being abandoned by his drunken father two years previous following his mothers mysterious murder, his life mostly revolves around finding a warm place to sleep at night. When one day he is attacked by men claiming to have killed his father, Rolland discovers a strange ability to slow the flow of time around him, beginning a journey that takes him to places outside of time, space, and eventually to the early 19th century to fight the sinister General Andrew Jackson. With the help of a rag-tag group of historical and mythical figures with various supernatural abilities of their own (Joan of Arc, Jesse James, etc) known as the Knights of Time, Rolland solves the mystery behind his mother's murder, falls in love, battles the evil Edward Vilthe - reaper of souls, and finds a home of his own in the paradise known as Eden.

The Time is Relative series chronicles the origin story of the mythical figure Father Time, beginning with the award winning first novel, Time is Relative for a Knight of Time. All dates and events are historically accurate. The participants... maybe not.

EXCERPT:

“What do you think, then?” came Judah’s voice, as Blaisey zoned back into their conversation.

Blaisey looked at him and saw him staring back at her. To her astonishment, Blaisey realized that Judah was asking for her opinion. Aside from his rather informal introduction, this was the first time that Judah had addressed her directly. Her surprise must have been evident to him, as Judah’s lips crept into a thin, lopsided smile around the cigarette.

“I knew a man once,” Blaisey said, in a calm, soothing voice. Her father, Nahoy – leader of the Nabawoo, had told her that white people prefer when natives speak in a calm, slow, relaxing tone. He believed that it goaded the white man into a false sense of superiority that their people could use as an advantage.

Blaisey had seen this as slightly sneaky and underhanded, but those were thoughts from before the days of Jackson’s terror, before the days of people falling out of the sky at daybreak and being kidnapped by American soldiers in the middle of the night.

“This man, he rolled and smoked his tobacco, like you,” Blaisey continued.

“Oh, yeah?” Judah asked, the cigarette in his mouth bobbing between his lips as he spoke. “What brand? I’m a Luckys man myself.” He sniffed and lifted his head proudly, his chin held high.

“This I do not know,” Blaisey said, smiling out of politeness. “And we cannot ask him, for he is dead.”

At this, Judah stopped his search for the lighter and looked at Blaisey head on, giving her his full attention for the first time. “From smoking tobacco, right?”

“No,” Blaisey said with vigor. “He was an ass like you, and somebody shot him.”

Book Blast & Giveaway: Girl Of Mine by Taylor Dean

Taylor Dean's newest book is now available!
GIRLOFMINE
The book trailer:

The song that inspired me while writing GIRL OF MINE:
(Watch until the end. There's a surprise!)
A interesting tidbit about GIRL OF MINE:
My dad always worried about the cost of the electricity bill. If he walked past my bedroom and noticed that my light had been left on, he would turn it off and holler,
"That's okay, Taylor, I got your light."
It became a bit of a joke in our household. My siblings and I loved to try and catch my dad leaving on a light, just so we could say,
"That's okay, Dad, I got your light."
Now that I'm an adult with my own family, the term takes on new meaning.
The message behind it has worked its way into my new novel, Girl of Mine.
My father brought me into this world, he cared for me, and he taught me well. He gave me my "light," my life.
He nourished my "light" and helped me become the person I am today.
So, Dad, thanks for getting my light.
I'll always be grateful.
Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Go ahead, hate me.
We all have secrets.
I have them as well—dark, terrible secrets.

When a man of questionable character’s corpse is found at The Cottages, beaten to death with Madison’s own gardening tools, she and her partner, Fab, set out to prove that the man’s abused girlfriend did not kill him. About the Author

I've been writing, in one way or another for as long as I can remember; writing poetry, short stories, a romance novel secretly stashed under the bed and sappy love letters. Fiction should be fun. I wanted to create the perfect beach book, to make the reader laugh, cry and cheer... and then run out and tell their friends about it.

My love of reading began when I was seven, the day I opened the cover of my first Mrs. Piggle Wiggle book. Mrs. P gave lessons to other children in how to behave and to me I learned to love the written word. I live with my family and demon children aka rescue cats in South Florida.

My Review

It's the third book I read in this series: for all once finished you can not wait to read the next. Although it is the sixth book in the series "Paradise" can be read very well as stand alone but read the whole series is more exciting because it allows to see the evolution of the various characters.
This episode is full of action, plot twists, suspense but also a lot of passion and romance: it seems that Madison has finally found the right man, Creole. He's almost a cousin for her because her aunt had always regarded as a son and also the family of Madison is very fond of him. He's an undercover cop and tries to keep Madison out of trouble but it is impossible, especially when an innocent girl is likely to be charged with murder.
Madison and Fab with their boyfriends living in a kind of residential complex "The Cottages" that she inherited from her aunt and her tenants are really bizarre. The boyfriend of her gardener Jami is found dead on her property and the girl is the prime suspect. Madison and Fab investigate and find themselves more than once in serious danger.
It 's really exciting, rich of humor, a pleasant and fun read, ideal beach reading.

Also available in the Paradise Series

It 's a collection of 20 short stories very pleasant: it is perfect as a beach reading and gives us the opportunity to read a new story of a writer who already know or learn some new author.
I have received four stories in this collection as advance copy to read and review but they are so well written so I can not wait to read the rest of the stories in this anthology!

"A Man For Hire" by Patrice Wilton  is great fun, with a lot of passion and some unforeseen. Jordan was left to Tom who wasted no time: he is immediately married to another woman. She is bitter, hurt and angry, knows Bradley in a bar and accomplice too many drinks they have a pleasant night of sex. When Jordan was invited to the party for the presentation to family and friends of Tom's new wife,  decides to come up with a paid escort. In the catalog of agency is located among boys available, right Bradley (he said he was a lawyer) and chooses him for to ask an explanation but perhaps because that night she never forgot. It will be a weekend to remember!

"Husband For A Week" by Mona Risk is a romantic tale, passionate with a bit of suspense. Among the protagonists there is a family of Sicilian origin embroiled in mafia. When Isabella, the sister of the new head of the family, is attacked and threatened, he thinks that a fake marriage can save her. Isabella must also manage a grandmother very intrusive and protective. Fortunately there is Jonathan, her brother's sexy friend. It's the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone.

"Big Girls Don't Cry" by Mimi Barbour
Eadan has recently moved into a new apartment and is trying to recover from the pain of discovering his girlfriend with another man. It will not be easy for him to trust a woman again. But in the new building lives Remi, a charming girl, maybe a little clumsy: she might be the right woman to start over. It 's a story engaging, funny, romantic and sexy.

"Irish Kisses (Wishing Jar #1)" by Helen Scott Taylor
Ten years before Aaron had kissed and deluded her before to leave the country and never come back: he had just broken her heart. He's forced to return to their country and can not wait to see how that little girl who had made his blood boil has grown, if only she had not been too small for him and if he was one of the closest friends of her brother . Fiona is still in love but afraid to suffer again. It 's a very sweet and romantic story.

These stories are funny, sexy, all plots are great and the characters really enjoyable.

Highly recommended to those who love romance
