Entangled: Scandalous

London, 1838

The handsome Earl of Summersby may just be the most eligible bachelor in London, but has no interest in a wife. As a member of the Brotherhood, Bennett Haile is far more vested in his undercover duties for the crown and protecting the Queen from would-be assassins. For now he has the perfect tool with which to lure out the villains—a young woman with an uncanny likeness to the queen.

The spirited Evelyn Marington is about to live out every country girl's dream—becoming royalty overnight. Under the tutelage of the arrogant Earl of Summersby, she'll have to fool the entire court that she is, in fact, the queen. But as danger threatens from every side, Bennett realizes that his lovely little protegé isn't just placing her life in his hands... She's stealing his heart.

My Review

This story had hooked me from the very first lines, the first sentence is taken from Pride & Prejudice, It's an historical novel fun, exciting and romantic, with a well-constructed and original plot and delightfully engaging characters.
Evelyn Marington is the third of five daughters, her elder sisters are engaged, now her mother thinks of marrying her. But she has other dreams and projects: wants to live alone and writes books. Bennett Haile is a member of the Brotherhood, an association that takes care of protecting the Queen. The young Queen Victoria is injured and is unable to carry out her duties in public. She's come under heavy criticism, public opinion thinks she is too young for this role.  Not to further damage her image, the Brotherhood thinks of replacing the Queen with a girl that looks a lot like her. She is Evelyn. Bennett has to deal with her training: he must transform a simple country girl in a queen. Someone will notice the replacement?
An excellent start to a new series, the story was well written, the dialogue was great, the perfect fit for a light, fun read.
This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it will not be the last.
I received an advance reader edition of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

When not writing, you can find Robyn hanging out with her family, husband (The Professor) a university professor of Political Science and their two ridiculously beautiful and smart daughters, Busybee and Babybee as well as two spoiled-rotten cats. They live in the hill country of Texas where it's hot eight months of the year, but those big blue skies make it worth it.
