Carrie Kennersly, a veterinary technician, has become known for offering healthy and popular dog treats at the clinic where she works. When the local bakery’s owner moves away, Carrie jumps at the chance to convert it into the Barkery, a shop to make and sell her canine delights.
But Myra Ethman, co-owner of another pet product store, hates the new competition. At the Barkery’s opening party, she badmouths Carrie’s homemade dog biscuits, insisting she’ll find a way to shut the place down. So when Myra is found dead with a Barkery biscuit beside her, Carrie must prove she didn’t do it before she’s collared for murder.

My Review:

I like cozy mystery that talk about food and animals so I love this novel. It 's full of interesting and fun characters, cute animals, there's quite a mystery to solve, and also an interesting relationship almost love.
Carrie is 32 years old lives with her brother Noel and her dog Biscuit in the small town of Knobcone Hights. She works as a veterinary technician but she just realized her dream of owning and running a shop of treats for animal products from her. At the opening night unfortunately comes her rivals, Myra and her husband Harris. Harry has a large store that sells pet products and Myra is also Noel's boss so at first Carrie tries to remain calm and be polite even if she tries in every way to put a bad light on the new local. In the end, however, Carrie not take it anymore and says her that she will do everything to prevent her from harming her business. So, when the morning after the woman is found dead, Carrie will be the main suspect. She is not prepared to lose everything and helped by her brother and her friends try to investigate and find the true culprit.
It 's a pleasant read, there are no many twists and the pace is a bit  slow but is unpredictable, it is hard to figure out who is the guilty until the end.
It's the first chapter of a new series, I can't wait to reading a new adventure of Carrie
I have received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for an honest review.
