Publisher: Samhain
Cover Designer: Angelique Anderson
Genre: Contemporary/Erotica

Synopsis

One little lie, one huge grudge, and one picture-perfect plan for revenge… Best Revenge, Book 2

Blackmailed into a prom date by the cute but geeky Dexter Black twelve years ago, Maya Werner shocked herself by having a good time. For a strong-willed, hot-tempered artist who’s used to having the upper hand, that’s never sat well with her.

At weekly wine night with her friends, Maya finds herself pledging to get revenge on the men who’ve done her wrong—starting with Dex. Except the Marine Corps transformed the nerd into a hot, sexy guy with the audacity to blackmail her again. This time into a few dates.

Dex is back in town with one goal in mind: to win the girl of his dreams. But he knows how she operates. His strategy? Keep her off balance by running hot and cold until she melts into the passion between them.

When a misunderstanding stokes old hurts, Maya backs away when she should stand her ground. But Dex has a contingency plan: pour on the charm with both barrels, until he has his own form of revenge—loving Maya, forever.

Warning: Blackmailing a stubborn, hot-tempered artist into bed, and an ex-Marine who has a penchant for taking pictures. Yeah, those kinds of pictures.

    Books Blogs Reality Cover

    Synopsis:

    Life can suck…
When reality becomes overwhelming, seeking comfort in fictional fantasies keeps hope alive. And while this escape may be a little delusional, it’s also therapeutic. Sharing secrets is daunting, but virtual friends don’t often judge and they are always ready to share a glass of wine…or three…while typing out life’s latest endeavors. Brooke believes obstacles only add to romance, not detract. Rachael longs for a more intense relationship, or so she thinks. Lizzie misses the excitement in her life, but sometimes new situations find you when you’re not even looking. And Jess believes a tiger can change his stripes. It can’t. Bound by a shared passion for blogging about happily ever afters, these four young women use keyboard therapy to work through their expectations, anxieties, and inadequacies, all with the hopes of achieving the perfection found in romance novels. Completely blinded by what they think life should be, they navigate their unique paths in search of what they envision is right. But when reality taunts them with persistent curve balls, will they be strong enough to choose wisely? Or will their happy endings escape them?

    My review

It 's a quick and fun read to read for anyone who has a blog where talks mostly of books.
The protagonists are four twentysomethings very different from each other: they all have a blog where review their favorite romance and often find themselves in chat to talk about books but also their real problems. Lizzie is an English girl who got married very young and has a 2 year old child Her marriage is in crisis, afraid that her husband has another and no longer safe to love him. Jess instead fell in love with the wrong guy, the classic asshole. She thinks that she is like the protagonist of novels she reads: the right girl that changes the heartthrob.  Rachael wants to increase passion with boyfriend Kevin experiencing pushed sex that reads in her books but soon she will realize the difference between fiction novels and reality. Brooke has a new job and falls in love with her boss: it is a love story difficult but he will not have the courage to fight for their love.
The narrative alternates chat among girls and the story of their real life, alternating in each chapter the story of one of the girls.
It 's a romantic novel, sexy, with some twists and fun.

    My Review

It's the second book in the series, but may well be read as a stand alone
It 's a good historical novel, full of mystery, romance, humor and adventure. It's compelling and addictive, you can not put it down until it is finished.
Mack and Cassie are two very strong: she is a girl determined intelligent and rebellious, he is the classic hero, able to solve any problem.
Cassie's father is an inventor and to save his life Mack, Director of the Ministry of War has hidden. Cassie seeking the father and will not give respite to Mack until it has obtained what she wants. Between the two will alternate moments of love and moments of hatred but the chemistry between them is wonderful.
To read for those who love historical romance romantic

    Interview

    1.Where are you from?

I was born in the Panhandle of Texas and moved to North Texas 15 years ago.  I live in the picturesque community of Granbury that sprang up along the Brazos River with a square built around the courthouse.

    2. What do you love most about writing?

I love being able to bring two people together despite their adversities so that they live happily ever after.

    3. Who or what influences your writing?

My mother is also a writer and I grew up watching her write, but it was truly when I was in college that I got my first idea for a book.  I love taking events that happened in history and incorporating them into my stories.  To me, it makes them seem more alive.

    4. Do you have a favourite book or author?

My all time favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.  In one book, she managed to get so many elements into it.  My favorite part is when Professor Bhaer professes his love to Jo under the umbrella.  *sigh*  I am also a huge fan of Diana Palmer, Amanda Quick, Johanna Lindsey, and Jennifer Ashley.

    5. Can you tell us what you are working on next?

I am currently working on the third book of The Rogue Agents trilogy.  This is the story of Liam and Megan.  Liam has been presumed dead for the last several years and Megan was forced to move on with her life.  Now they find themselves back in one another’s lives, yet they are each untrusting of one another and the people they have become.  Both have past issues they are having to face, and of course, in the process there is a threat to them and their future.

    About the Author

    Tammy Jo Burns
From a young age I could always be found carrying around books to read while watching my grandmother's soap operas with her. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on and even made up skits and stories for my friends and me to act out. Once I outgrew the children's and YA books, my mom introduced me to an entirely new world - contemporary romance. Upon discovering I had a love for history I began devouring historical romances. One day, sitting in a college British History class, something the professor said made me think, I wonder. I quickly called mom (also a writer) and ran the idea by her. After being told, "Of course you can do it, you're my daughter," the rest, as they say, is history. I currently share my love of reading with the next generation as a high school librarian, and share my personal life with my demanding dog trapped in a cat's body, Ajax.

Review & Giveaway: Cranberry Bluff by Debora Garner

    Cranberry Bluff

    Cranberry Bluff by Deborah Garner

Molly Elliott's quiet life in Tallahassee, Florida, is disrupted when routine errands land her in the wrong place at the wrong time: the middle of a bank robbery. Accused and cleared of the crime, she flees both media attention and mysterious, threatening notes, to move across the country to Cranberry Cove, where she has inherited her Aunt Maggie's bed and breakfast on the Northern California coast. Her new beginning is peaceful - that is, until five guests show up at the inn for a weekend, each with a hidden agenda. Mix together one blushing honeymoon couple, one flamboyant boutique owner, a deadpan traveling salesman, and a charmingly handsome novelist, and there’s more than scones cooking at Cranberry Cottage Bed and Breakfast. As true motives become apparent, will Molly's past come back to haunt her or will she finally be able to leave it behind?

    Excerpt

Sadie Kramer was the next to arrive, bustling through the entrance thirty minutes later. A plump woman in her mid-sixties, she wore a floral dress in fuchsia tones that clashed violently with her red, bouffant hair. Knitting needles stuck out of an oversized tote bag that hung from her left arm. A bit of yarn drizzled alongside. In contrast to the first guest, Sadie was outgoing and friendly, fawning over the inn’s décor. She complimented Molly on everything from the vase of fresh snapdragons on the registration table to the soft jazz that flowed from overhead speakers. She wasted no time scurrying to the appetizer table, demonstrating uncanny dexterity as she wedged a Brie-covered cracker between her lips while pouring a glass of wine.
Had Molly been able to hear the effervescent personality in Sadie’s voice on the phone, she might have put her in a more flamboyant room – the Tulip Room, for example, with its multi-colored throw pillows or the Bistro Room, with its wine-labeled wallpaper. But a last-minute switch would be difficult. The Battenberg Room would have to do, white lace and all.
“I love every inch of this place!” Sadie exclaimed. Her tote bag smacked the cheese and cracker tray as she twirled around, causing her knitting needles to click together. “Are there other guests staying here tonight?”
“Yes, a few,” Molly said, reaching out to catch a wine glass that Sadie’s elbow had nudged. She placed it back on the table. “Let me set the tote bag aside for you.”
“No, dear, that won’t be necessary.” Sadie pulled the bag in closer to her side as she reached for another cracker. “I’ll just have a couple more bites and then settle in for the evening.” She flashed a bright smile at Molly.
Sadie embraced the Battenberg room eagerly; she gushed over its details with enthusiasm that equaled what she’d exhibited in the parlor. “What lovely trinkets! What sweet doilies! What an adorable miniature tea set!” The woman patted the quilted bedding with one hand, nodding in approval. Molly watched the wine sway in the glass Sadie still clutched in her other hand. Sadie poked her head in the bathroom and popped back out. “I love that claw foot tub! And who would have thought to put teapots on a shower curtain? It’s delightful!
Leaving the exuberant woman to get settled, Molly returned to the kitchen. She dumped the coffee in the sink and poured herself a glass of wine. It was going to be a long evening.

    My review

I decided to read this book attracted by the cover, when I read that it was a cozy mystery I could not wait to start it. I had never read any book like cozy mystery up in March and since then I have really fallen in love with this genre. It's  a book fun and exciting, full of twists, red herrings and good recipes.
After being accidentally involved and accused of a robbery, Molly decides to leave Florida and moving to California, in Cranberry Cove. Here she inherited from her aunt a bed and breakfast and has great fun in welcoming and pamper its guests with the help of her aunt's recipe book. When she thinks that the past is now behind begins to receive strange letters and her current guests will reveal not just what they say they are. There are the Jensen from Boston who are a couple on their honeymoon, then there is Mr. Miller a salesman from Bakersfield, the old Sadie Kramer and the mysterious and fascinating Bryce
It 'swritten really good, the characters are realistic and believable, and the mystery is really intriguing and compelling. I can not wait to read the second book in the series.
Very nice idea to put the recipes at the end of the book.

Book Blitz: Tears for a World by Alexander Fernandez

    Tears for a world

    Tear for a World
    by Alexander Fernandez

The holy artifact bonded around Marisylia Malludar's neck gives her incredible physical and magical powers—at a price. The bloody piece of vein is consuming Marisylia's body inch by inch, her skeletal hands and feet only the beginning of a slow death. A cruel sorceress and her assassins are on the hunt for Marisylia to steal the artifact. Religious fanatics, volatile and unstable in their blind faith, also seek her to exploit the vein’s most dangerous purpose—liberating the erratic Creator of the World, Lysielle, from her 1,000 year incarceration. With the vein the key to Lysielle’s freedom, Marisylia must use her abilities to survive long enough to find Lysielle first. Then her most grim challenge awaits—deciding if the Creator has truly repented for attempting to destroy all life. To achieve global peace, Marisylia must discover faith in the unpredictable Lysielle or rely on her own instincts to set the world’s fate.

      Excerpt:

Marisylia blinked and rubbed milk out of her eyes, but the mob wasn’t finished. A stiff hand shoved her from behind and she stumbled against the table. Unfinished slices of pie and rolls of bread pelted her. With nowhere to hide, she dove into the horde and tried to shove her way out. Most of the people only yelled insults as they let her pass. Others bumped her roughly with their shoulders, tried to trip her, or pushed her around so she bounced back and forth between pairs of hands. One woman caught Marisylia and carefully steadied her. She peered into the woman’s eyes, one friendly person amid the riled swarm. The lady smiled softly, then suddenly spit into Marisylia’s face. When the saliva splattered her cheek, Marisylia stopped caring why the citizens acted like this. Whether due to fear of the religious power, worry that it would infest Three Fingers, or simply senseless anger, none of it mattered anymore since the time to quit had arrived. All of her determination to succeed had been ripped to shreds by the crowd. Each hand that shoved, every object that struck, drained her enthusiasm. Her devotion to the religion had drowned in the woman’s spit. It was all too much. Marisylia didn’t have Milick’s iron skin or Shri Lilyn’s boldness. She had nothing, only the desire to run away and forget everything. Praise: "This is a fantastic story, and the various characters will blow you away. It's one of the best reads I've had in a long while." ~ Author Trana M. Simmons

Laurel is determined to sign him, no matter how clearly reluctant he is. Though they try to resist one another romantically, the magnetism is as immediate as it is powerful.

Unintentional offers readers an intricate, riveting story about the fraught paces of love, while also offering strains of heartwarming humor. With rich detail, authentic characters, and plenty of blood-pumping romance, Unintentional is a moving and multilayered look at how love can slip through our fingers, only to be pulled back again at the most surprising, stirring moments.

    EXCERPTS:

I hate my life. It sucks. It’s been thirty days since the shooting, and things just keep getting worse. I turn over in my bed and groan. I’m hung over again. My body feels like it’s been through a meat grinder then tossed into a dryer, just for fun.

First, I rub my hands over my throbbing temples, hoping to relieve some of the pressure. Next, I try to deal with my gritty, aching eyes by massaging them. Nope, not working. I let out a frustrated moan. Knowing it’s my fault, the agony my body is currently suffering, doesn’t make it any better. Actually, it makes it worse.

I remember telling Mattie four months ago, when we met at the cabin, I wasn’t good with rejection. If she could see me now, she’d know I wasn’t overstating things. I feel like shit – in every way possible.

    My Review

It's the second book in the series "Intentional" but it can be read as a stand alone: unfortunately I have not read the first one but I have not had any trouble. I was thrilled to know that in the end there will be a third ........
I really like books with protagonists of the musical world and this book was great, caught me from the first page and I immediately fell in love with Cade.
Cade is suffering because he believes he has lost his soul mate: his beloved Mattie chose Jeremy. With a broken heart is isolated from the others and also negects his band. To save it arrives Laurel: she is a music agent and wants at all costs to get him to sign a contract. He is not yet ready to develop his career and asks for a year's time. Laurel wants it so much that he decided to wait. Working together will be increasingly attracted to each other: their employment relationship will turn into a love story? Mattie will be released forever from the heart of Cade?
It 's a book romantic without being corny, sometimes humorous at times poignant, is compelling, unpredictable, with some twist: in this story do not miss anything. The characters are fantastic: apart from the wonderful Cade also Laurel I liked: she is a sweet girl but determined and headstrog. However, all the characters are very believable and well characterizing.
    I highly recommend this book.

    by T. Lynne Tolles

As the dust settles from the destruction of the Bloodstone Heart, a small scroll that had been hidden in the hearth of the altar room for hundreds of years, reveals a prophecy that seems to be about the Larsen family. While the group tries to unravel the riddles of the prophecy they also start to notice they've acquired some interesting new powers from the Bloodstone itself, some of which are going to take some getting use to.

Darby and Devon head to Ireland to set up house and get ready for their impending nuptials when Darby is asked to help cure the Summer Queen of the Everworld or the delicate balance of power between the Seelie and Unseelie courts will topple throwing the planet into a deadly ice age. While at home, things take a turn for the worse when there's a tragic airplane crash, the Larsen vampires start dropping like flies, Bernard goes missing, and all the bad deeds dealt seem to point towards one person - the Dark Angel.

    EXCERPT:

“Move over, Dean…I’m starving,” Mark said as he grabbed hordes of food, filling his plate. “As for Alyssa, oh, she has a power, all right.” He looked at Dominic and said, “What is it called when you can float in the air?”

    “Levitating?” Dominic said.

“Yes. Levitation…that’s what Alyssa’s power is,” Mark said.

“What? What are you talking about?” Alyssa asked.

“You. When I turned back into a person this morning, I walked into the bedroom and found you sleeping above the bed - two to three feet above the bed. I made some stupid comment to myself about a mon…I mean a furry little creature and ‘poof’ I turned again.”

“What were you before you were a monk…” Blake was interrupted by Mark sticking his fingers in his ears and singing “LaLaLaLaaaaaLa. I can’t hear you saying anything. Laalaaaalalalalaaaaaalaa.”

    “Okay. Okay…I get it.”

Mark took his fingers out of his ears and continued, “I was a…” and then he put his elbows tight to the sides of his body and with his hands near his shoulders he made a waving motion, like he had some kind of strange wings.

Dean said, “You were a Faerie?”

“No, moron. Faeries aren’t animals. I was an insect that…” Then he continued the strange motion with his hands.

    Blake said, “An insect that…flies?”

Mark touched his index finger to his nose.

“Didn’t I swat at a...” Rowan started to say and Mark raised an eyebrow at her with a warning. “Didn’t I swat at something at dinner last night?”

Mark answered, “Yes, you did and you nearly knocked me out cold. So from now on, if you see an insect or animal and I’m not standing right next to you, don’t kill it, smash it, or swat at it. It could be me.” His voice almost squeaked as he made his point.
