When her brother is found unconscious, Layne takes his place on the jousting field against...
Griffin Wolfe, the undefeated jousting champion. When he is unhorsed by a slip of a woman who is not a knight, he demands retribution. He attempts to educate her in the art of being a woman, but finds he is attracted to her exciting personality and uncommon beauty despite her less then lady like ways.
But someone is trying to sabotage Griffin. Can Layne and Griffin discover who the culprit is while keeping their families safe and their growing attraction secret?

My Review:
It 's a very sweet and romantic novel, a great love story.
It's set in 1363, in England
Layne is the only girl of four children, is an unconventional woman, who prefers riding and sword of women's clothes. Griffin is a knight who has never lost a jousting. It 's a true gentleman. One of the Layne's brother, Frances, must participate in a major jousting and must win the amount at stake. Their family needs it. Frances must challenge the invincible Griffin but he feels bad. Layne took the opportunity to participate in his place, though it was forbidden for women to play. She manages to throw and beat the talented Griffin. But when she saw the wounded man to the ground she only thinks to rescue him and unwisely removes her helmet to reveal to everyone that she is a woman. She is fined but they can not pay. To avoid their jail Griffin offers to pay, in exchange wants the girl to live with him, he wants to make a real lady. Colin, her older brother, reluctantly accepts, knowing that soon will be able to pay back the money will regain his sister.......
The pace is fast and exciting thanks to the very short sentences. The scene of the jousting is described in detail: it is clear that the author has studied a lot of history of the period. I loved the two main characters: Layne is a strong woman, funny and determined while Griffin is a true knight noble-hearted.
Must read for those who love historical romance.
